The UNH Telehealth Practice Center is an interdisciplinary facility that connects education, research and services across health-related disciplines, both within and beyond the University of New Hampshire.

In August 2019, Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) launched a capstone project for computer science students that involved configuring a platform environment on which to build  Augmented Reality (AR) applications. ET&S pitched this project to computer science students to select the project and develop the technology, and it concluded with a presentation at the Virtual Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) in spring 2020. ET&S selected and advised three computer science students to work on the capstone project, in conjunction with faculty and staff from the Telehealth Practice Center.

Students built and documented a working environment for future AR Hololens applications as existing web-based support is outdated, incorrect, or incomplete. They also provided samples of AR technology for use in research and teaching environments in conjunction with input from the UNH Nursing Department.

As AR technology becomes part of the UNH Telehealth Practice Center, new hands-free, technology-enhanced tools can be used to help practitioners assist patients in the field and can serve as examples of the possible future technologies any discipline at UNH might adopt and implement.
