Esports, commonly known as electronic sports, is a competitive form of gaming that involves organized, multiplayer video game contests, often between professional players and teams. This industry spans various game genres and has experienced rapid growth, fostering a unique culture, dedicated training routines, and specialized venues for hosting events.
The Keene State College Owls eSports team is a varsity-level squad with five coaches and nineteen athletes, and is the first of its kind at the ×î¿ì¿ª½±Ö±²¥½ÁÖé½á¹û. In its inaugural season, The Owls competed against other colleges and universities in eSports and made it to the semi-finals this year in their division.
During the 2023-2024 winter break, Enterprise Technology & Services (ET&S) consulted Keene State College on an initiative to turn an existing classroom into an eSports facility. ET&S donated time, materials, and consulted on component purchasing to help move this project from a vision into a reality. Â
